Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is taking action to ease restrictions on bars and restaurants in East Baton Rouge.

Broome requested that the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control loosen some restrictions due to the parish meeting the state Health Department's requirements.

Once "opt-in" status is granted, bars could operate under eased restrictions outlined in the Governor's executive order for Phase 3.

Parishes are required to have two consecutive weeks with a positivity rate of 5% or less for the state to ease restrictions.
