Hurricane Sally continued its slow movement towards landfall along the Mississippi/Alabama border Tuesday.
Many watches and warnings posted in southeast Louisiana from Sally are now dropped as the northern Gulf Coast appears to be the eventual destination for Sally.
The National Hurricane center warns of "life-threatening storm surge" from the mouth of the Mississippi to the Florida panhandle, with the Alabama coast and Mobile Bay in line for the worst of the surge.
"Historic life-threatening flash flooding is likely through Wednesday along and just inland of the coast from the western Florida Panhandle to far southeastern Mississippi," the NHC added. "Widespread moderate to major river flooding is forecast along and just inland of the central Gulf Coast. Significant flash and urban flooding, as well as widespread minor to moderate river flooding, are likely across inland portions of Mississippi, Alabama, northern Georgia, and the western Carolinas through the week."
