Officials say it could take years until a final location is chosen for the new bridge over the Mississippi River.

The Capital Area Road and Bridge District announced yesterday that it could take four years until a specific spot is picked for the overpass.

According to reports, part of the timeline now depends on an appeal of the state's Department of Transportation and Development's selection of a consulting firm.

Legislators say once DOTD settles their decision, the selected firm will then be in charge of pinning down a location for the new bridge.
