(East Baton Rouge, LA) -- City and state officials are unveiling a new project to improve drainage systems in East Baton Rouge. Under the project, 66 miles of waterways would be dredged, widened and upgraded to improve drainage and help prevent flash flooding. The major waterways included in the flood risk reduction project are Jones Creek, Ward Creek, Bayou Fountain, Blackwater Bayou and Beaver Bayou. The project is expected to take about four years to complete.
