BRPD Fires Officer For Tigerland Incident

The Baton Rouge Police Department has fired an officer for an assault in Tigerland earlier this year.

Officer Marshall McDermitt was stripped of his weapon and badge after a video surfaced showing him repeatedly punching a bloodied man outside a bar near LSU.

McDermitt was suspended last year for his use of obscenities around the public while on duty.

A police union attorney says the officer plans to appeal his termination.
