Baton Rouge Educators May Have Something To Gobble About

When Thanksgiving rolls around next month, employees with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System may find the holiday a little happier than usual.

That's because the school board gave unanimous approval Thursday to a proposal to put an extra $500 in each pre-Thanksgiving paycheck of its more than 5,000 full-time employees.

However, that approval is preliminary, and pending final approval at the board's October 18th meeting.

The Advocate reports money for the extra pay would come out of a fund linked to a one-cent sales tax for education.
