French Settlement Police Chief Indicted For Malfeasance

The police chief of French Settlement, population around 1,100, is facing a charge of malfeasance in office.

Chief Harry Brignac was indicted by a Livingston Parish grand jury Tuesday after being presented evidence alleging that he purchased $60 of fuel in May for his personal pickup truck with a government-issued gas card.

The 71-year-old will be arraigned next month.

Brignac's wife tells WBRZ News 2 that she believes her husband's arrest was politically motivated by the village's mayor.
