A state lawmaker from Baton Rouge is against BREC relocating the Baton Rouge Zoo out of Greenwood Park and has filed a bill to block the move.
BREC is looking to move the zoo to its Airline Highway Park on the city's southside.
But, Representative Barbara West Carpenter says she filed her legislation to keep what she says is an important asset on the northside and wants BREC to improve the current location.
Carpenter told The Advocate that she believes BREC has deliberately "let the zoo die."
