Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says the police department will be stepping up efforts to improve safety in the capital city.
In a statement released over the weekend, Broome finds a recent spate of homicides concerning, four of them within a 24-hour period beginning Friday.
She says she will advance the city's Crime Reduction and Strengthening Communities Plan of Action in conjunction with police.
Broome is to deliver her State of the City-Parish tomorrow.
