Hurricane Katia was holding steady in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Thursday morning.
The storm is expected to start moving southwest towards the coast of Mexico Friday, and with Katia moving over warm waters with low shear, it could reach Category 2 strength with maximum winds of 105 miles per hour.
Landfall is forecast to take place early Sunday morning.
