Governor Seeks Harvey-Related Federal Emergency Declaration

Torrential Rains Bring Historic Floods To Southern Louisiana

Governor John Bel Edwards is asking President Trump to issue a federal emergency declaration because of Tropical Storm Harvey that, for now at least, would cover several parishes in southwest Louisiana.

The initial request, if granted, would impact Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vermilion where upwards of two feet of rain could fall this week.

Edwards says other parishes could be added depending on the potential impact of the storm elsewhere in the state.
