Harvey Now A Hurricane

Harvey continued to grow stronger in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday, reaching category 1 hurricane strength with maximum winds of 80 miles per hour.

The National Hurricane Center warns Harvey could be a category 3 storm as it makes landfall tomorrow night in Texas.

While Texas will bear the major impact of Harvey's landfall, officials in Louisiana are preparing for locally heavy rains from the outer bands of Harvey, particularly if the storm stalls out after landfall and lingers for a few days. Impacts from the storm could be felt into the start of next week.
