Cops Accused Of Sadistic Attack

A civil rights lawsuit is making its way through a federal court that accuses two Baton Rouge cops of "sadistically and unnecessarily" assaulting a local resident during a traffic stop.

The Advocate reports the suit was filed in U.S. District Court last week.  In it, Mario Powell claims he was dragged out of his vehicle in August of last year and punched in the face by one officer and attacked with a flashlight by another.

He says the encounter should have amounted to just "routine questioning."
