Tropical Storm Harvey Forms, No Threat To Gulf Coast For Now

The 8th named storm of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season formed Thursday.

Tropical Storm Harvey has prompted watches and warnings along islands in the Lesser Antilles as it continues a mainly westward movement.

The forecast cone keeps the storm out of the Gulf of Mexico, continuing west towards the coast of Central America.

When the National Hurricane Center initiated updates on what was then Potential Tropical Cyclone 9, forecasters called for the storm to reach hurricane strength. Now, Harvey is expected to remain a tropical storm up until landfall early next week.
