Baton Rouge Remembers Slain Cops

Baton Rouge Reels In Aftermath Of Ambush Shooting Killing Three Police Officers

Baton Rouge is remembering three slain cops a year after a deadly ambush.

Scores gathered late Monday at the Baton Rouge Police Department to release balloons in honor of the two city cops and the East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputy killed last year by a 29-year-old Marine veteran from Missouri.

The shooter was shot and killed by police and left a note behind saying he was inspired to retaliate for the police killing of Alton Sterling two weeks earlier.

Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome ordered flags at half-staff and in a statement thanked local law enforcement for protecting the community.
