Former Saints player Robert Meachem has been released from jail after making a $100,000 down payment on child support and alimony he owed to his ex-wife.
Meachem had been jailed in Jefferson Parish for three days.
A judge had ruled that he could be freed if he produced $100,000 of the reported $388,000 he owed in back support and alimony. He came up with the money and was released on Thursday afternoon.
Meachem was selected by the Saints with the 27th overall pick in the 2007 Draft. He spent five seasons with the Saints and won the Super Bowl with them before signing a deal with San Diego in 2012. He returned to New Orleans for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
