BATON ROUGE- The WBRZ storm team warned people Tuesday that dangerous winter conditions are not over.

While sleet, ice, or snow subsided in the evening, cold temperatures mean roads will not thaw out by Wednesday morning.

Expect it to be bitterly cold with morning wind chill values into the single digits as winds gust, Pat Shingleton and Josh Eachus posted on the WBRZ weather blog. The day will start with near record lows and end barely above freezing, in the upper 30s. But, there will be plenty of sunshine.

A large ridge of high pressure to our north that helped force this arctic air mass into the region will stay put but start to break down on Thursday and push eastward. As it does, we'll introduce a bit of a southerly component to the winds and allow afternoon temperatures to push the 50s.

A good thaw out should begin Thursday.
