BAKER - Police arrested a man Thursday who provided security to a party in Baker where three people were killed, after investigators said they discovered the security guard had fired his weapon to try and get the crowd under control.

Investigators charged Donnie Cavalier, 24, with illegal use of a weapon. They said he also did not possess a concealed weapons permit, or any kind of permit to carry the weapon as a security guard at the March 28 party.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a witness told police she saw a heavyset man with dreadlocks and a shirt that said "SECURITY" on it fire a gun in the parking lot of the Baker Civic Club. Police said that happened after 16-year-old Nakeydran Williams shot and killed three other teens at a birthday party and concert at the civic club.

Police said after contacting Cavalier they found two bullets were missing from his gun. During an interview detectives said Cavalier admitted he fired two shots into the ground to get the crowd to leave the area after the shooting.
