BATON ROUGE - A plane carrying LSU's baseball team to this weekend's game against Texas A&M returned to the airport after some mechanical trouble Thursday afternoon, according to the university.

Associate Athletic Director Michael Bonnette said the team's plane returned before reaching cruising altitude. He said the team should be back in the air within the hour, or else they would switch to a different plane.

LSU players posted several messages about the incident on social media.

"Well that's a first... Flight took off and then came right back home," outfielder Christopher Sciambra posted on Twitter.

The Tigers face Texas A&M in a three-game series starting Friday night in College Station.
