BATON ROUGE  (WBRZ) - When the legislature convenes in the spring, lawmakers will likely discuss a proposal to allow Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations in public schools.

State Representative Alan Seabaugh, a republican from north Louisiana plans to push a law allowing for holiday festivities dealing with those religious events.

Seabaugh says his proposal won't actually change laws that already exist.

It's a plan that's being moved through other states, too. Texas passed legislation this year for students and staff to celebrate religious holidays. Oklahoma is planning on introducing similar legislation soon.
