Police asked for the public's help finding a missing 10-year-old Baton Rouge girl who disappeared after an argument with her mother Tuesday night.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said officers were looking for Eriel Cottrell, who was last seen walking down the 14200 block of South Choctaw at Foxlane Drive.

Mounted officers were out searching the area on horseback Wednesday afternoon for any signs of the missing girl.

Police said Cottrell was wearing a school uniform, with a burgundy shirt and white long-sleeve shirt underneath, navy blue skirt, white Adidas tennis shoes and white knee-length socks. Her hair was in a bushy ponytail.

Anyone who may have seen or know the whereabouts of Eriel is urged to contact Baton Rouge Police at (225) 389-2000.
